HBO have, yet again, shown their talent at telling stories with Boardwalk Empire, tackling the American Prohibition Era, focussing on the organised crime syndicates of the East Coast and the fragile alliances that were forged between the various crime lords. The show centred around Enoch “Nucky” Thompson (played by Steve Buscemi) and Atlantic City though encompassing Chicago and New York as well, ran for five seasons before bowing out of the ring with its head held high in November. Today sees the release of the final series of the show on Blu-Ray and DVD.

They may have had a few wobbles with Iron Man 2, and the ending to Captain America: The First Avenger may have needed some improvement, but ultimately they’re riding a wave of successes on the big screen which they’ve seen cross over to the small with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Joining this is Agent Carter, following on from the events of The First Avenger and the Marvel One Shot on the Iron Man 3 DVD. by The I'm With Geek TV Team Another year has come and gone, and with it some fantastic TV series. Click on to find out who was filled with Christmas cheer and who found naught but coal! by Graham Osborne This week’s episode of Constantine manages to be both astoundingly good and frustratingly annoying at the same time. It feels like the show is trying to juggle too many balls at once, setting up an explosive second part to the storyline, but ultimately letting things get too tricky. by Graham Osborne If there were any doubts about whether or not Constantine is good, this is the episode to finally alleviate those concerns. This week takes a tight script and interesting plot and marries it together with just the right level of tension and scares to create a gripping tale. It’s just a pity that they didn’t show it a month earlier… by Graham Osborne This week’s episode follows on almost directly from last week’s cliffhanger, the crew of the Ghost are being chased by The Inquisitor and a squad of TIE-Fighters who are determined to reclaim the Imperial secrets stored inside the head of a fugitive Rodian. by Graham Osborne Constantine has risen from a shaky start to become an engaging supernatural detective show. This week has the gang of paranormal investigators heading to New Orleans to deal with a vengeful spirit murdering in a method similar to that of its own demise. by Graham Osborne Rejoice everyone, for it is Empire Day in our glorious galaxy! A time where one and all remember Emperor Palpatine’s victory during the Clone Wars and the defeat of the Jedi scum! At least that’s what the official story is in this week’s episode, the first in a two parter. |
